The mechanism
Every move you make starts from the ground up.
Bat speed. First step quickness. Shot power. Change of direction. All of it originates from ground reaction force transmitted through the same chain. Break that chain at its base — the subtalar joint — and every link above it works harder than it should to compensate. Thousands of times a game.
Pronation at heel strike stores elastic energy in the plantar fascia, Achilles, and intrinsic muscles. Supination at push-off releases that energy like a spring — but only if the heel lands on the correct oblique axis first. A flat field, court, or track can't send that signal. Disrupt the axis loading and you don't just lose some efficiency — you lose the mechanism entirely.
